Photos reveal a camouflaged Mitsubishi EV built on the Nissan Leaf platform, expected to offer similar specs and a price around $30,000.

Photos have surfaced online showing a camouflaged Mitsubishi electric vehicle that's essentially built on the new Nissan Leaf platform. The company previously confirmed it will unveil its second production EV this summer, and it will utilize the Leaf's underpinnings.

The prototype's body proportions mirror the Leaf, with its distinctive roof arc and silhouette being clearly recognizable. However, the car features different headlights with multiple lighting elements, a redesigned front bumper, and its own unique taillights. It also rides on three-spoke wheels, a signature Mitsubishi design trait.

Beneath the skin, the vehicle is expected to carry the Leaf's complete powertrain. In the U.S., the 2026 Nissan Leaf is equipped with a 214-horsepower electric motor producing 354 Nm of torque in its S+, SV+, and Platinum+ trims. Its 75 kWh battery pack delivers an estimated range of up to 303 miles (approximately 488 km).

The new Mitsubishi is anticipated to offer similar specifications and a comparable price point—around $30,000. The model name remains undisclosed, though options from the brand's historical lineup are possible. This launch forms part of Mitsubishi's renewed product strategy, aiming to expand its presence in the urban EV segment where manufacturers are focusing on affordability and platform sharing.
