Germany's favorite car brands: Audi tops YouGov's latest ranking
Discover YouGov's latest ranking of Germany's most popular automakers: Audi leads ahead of BMW and Mercedes, Volkswagen slips, and Hyundai enters the top 10.
YouGov has released its annual ranking of Germany’s most popular automakers. As in 2024, domestic marques set the pace.
Audi leads with 25.1 points, followed by BMW on 24.4 and Mercedes-Benz on 23.9. Volkswagen slips to fourth with 20.3, while Toyota rounds out the top five and improves its score to 17.1. The gaps among the top three are narrow, underscoring how closely matched the premium contenders remain.
The top ten also features Skoda (17.0), Volvo (15.1), Porsche (13.8), Opel (12.3), and Hyundai (11.5). Hyundai appears for the first time, edging out Ford — a reminder that even a familiar list can evolve at the margins.
Analysts note that German premium brands continue to dominate the home market, backed by strong trust and recognition. For shoppers weighing their next car, the survey serves as a useful compass: traditional names still command the most confidence despite mounting pressure from Asian manufacturers. At the same time, Hyundai’s debut hints that momentum can shift, even if the establishment continues to hold the high ground.
