KGM Torres EVX electric taxi now operating in Spain

The electric KGM Torres EVX has officially been added to taxi fleets in Madrid and Barcelona. Previously known as the SsangYong Torres, this model has been certified for use in Spain's largest cities, with plans to expand to more regions. Taxi operators can choose between the fully electric EVX version and the hybrid Torres HEV.

The Torres EVX features a 207-horsepower electric motor paired with an 80.6 kWh LFP Blade Battery from BYD, with a usable capacity of 73.4 kWh. It offers a WLTP range of 500 km, extending up to 664 km in urban conditions—a crucial factor for round-the-clock taxi service. Charging from 10% to 80% takes just 30 minutes. The base warranty covers 7 years or 150,000 km, while the battery gets extended protection of 10 years or 1,000,000 km, making this one of the most appealing options for professional use.

For taxi drivers, the vehicle provides a spacious 839-liter trunk, a dual-screen digital panel measuring 12.3 inches, and a full equipment package even in the base trim. The industry price starts at €26,500.

The Torres HEV version offers an alternative for regions with slower electrification progress. It combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 150 horsepower with an electric generator, delivering a total output of 204 horsepower. The Dual-Tech hybrid system operates in electric mode up to 94% of the time in city driving. Warranty coverage includes 5 years or 100,000 km for the vehicle and up to 160,000 km for the battery. Pricing starts at €23,500 plus VAT.

Overall, the Torres EVX joins other KGM models already in taxi service, such as the Rodius, XLV, Tivoli Grand, and the electric Korando e-Motion. For municipal fleets, low operating costs, long battery life, and competitive pricing are key priorities—and the Torres EVX meets all these demands.
