Toyota unveils next-gen RAV4 PHEV with enhanced features
Toyota launches the new RAV4 PHEV in Japan from March 2026, offering 150 km electric range, 329 hp, and power supply capabilities for devices.
Toyota has unveiled the new generation RAV4 PHEV, set to launch in Japan starting March 9, 2026. This model combines increased electric range, high power, and expanded functionality, including the ability to power external devices. Built on a hybrid architecture platform, it features a new high-efficiency PHEV module with a larger battery, delivering 242 kW (329 hp) and offering up to 150 km of all-electric driving—nearly 60% more than the previous generation.

The RAV4 PHEV supports high-power charging and external power supply modes. Through an outlet in the trunk or a proprietary adapter, the vehicle can output up to 1,500 W, allowing users to connect household appliances during leisure activities or use the car as a backup power source. In HV Power Supply mode, the crossover can provide about 6.5 days of power at a 400 W load, extending to up to 7 days in time-priority mode.

A sporty GR SPORT variant has been added to the lineup. It features revised aerodynamics, a reinforced body structure, GR Performance Dampers, and stiffening braces. The suspension has received a special tune, and the electric power steering is calibrated for more precise response.
The Z version offers updated exterior styling with black accents and LED lighting.
In Japan, prices start from 6,000,000 yen for the RAV4 PHEV and 6,300,000 yen for the GR SPORT. Toyota plans to sell around 700 PHEV units per month and expand its accessory line through the Upgrade Factory.
