Discover the Dacia Hipster, a minimalist €15,000 electric quadricycle with smartphone-based controls, durable cabin, and honest design, slated for a 2027 launch.

After the Spring’s success, Dacia is back with a bolder proposition: the Hipster, an electric quadricycle. According to chief designer David Durand, the model is meant to bring back the idea of a simple car and offer an alternative to costly EVs. The premise feels refreshingly pragmatic.

Just 3 meters long, the Hipster seats four and is projected to cost around €15,000. The concept hinges on radical minimalism: a lightweight body, straightforward assembly, and frugal use of materials. Rather than a maze of electronics, it relies on robust mechanical components and carefully considered ergonomics.

Inside, there’s no digital cluster or infotainment display; a smartphone running a dedicated app handles the car’s functions. The windows are manual, and the cabin is trimmed in durable, low-cost materials that underline the model’s utilitarian brief. It’s a back-to-basics interior that prioritizes what’s necessary over what’s fashionable.

Despite the simplicity, the Hipster keeps Dacia’s signature character—clean geometry, a compact footprint, generous ground clearance, and a hint of adventure. The recipe reads as honest rather than austere.

An official launch is expected in 2027. Dacia’s push for an attainable electric vehicle looks well-timed; as transportation grows more expensive, the brand again speaks to those who want genuine mobility without the extras.
