Chevrolet Sonic 2027 launch details and specifications pressroom.gm.com.br

Chevrolet confirms the 2027 Sonic SUV launching in Q2 2026. Learn about its design, engine options, and equipment like driver-assistance systems.

Chevrolet has officially confirmed the launch timeline for the new 2027 Sonic. The compact SUV will hit the market in the second quarter of 2026, between April and June. The model will be produced in Gravataí, Brazil, on the same assembly line as the Onix, which served as its base.

The Sonic will slot between the Onix and the Tracker, positioning it to compete with the Fiat Pulse, Volkswagen Tera, and Renault Kardian. The company has already opened a pre-registration page for customers to receive information about the model.

From a published image of the rear, the vehicle features LED taillights, a black Chevrolet logo, and a rear spoiler. Unlike many coupe-style crossovers, the Sonic retains a rear window wiper. Its design employs a size impression approach, visually enhancing the vehicle's dimensions through a high-mounted hood and two-level lighting, similar to the Montana and the updated Tracker.

The official engine lineup remains undisclosed. However, it is expected to include a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and direct injection. More affordable versions might feature a naturally aspirated 1.0-liter engine, while a 1.2-liter turbo option from the Tracker could be a future possibility.

In terms of equipment, the Sonic is anticipated to offer cameras and driver-assistance systems, including forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking. These features were previously reserved for the brand's higher-end models.
