The German automobile club ADAC has concluded its comprehensive 2025 car testing program. Experts evaluated 112 models with petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains, assessing them across over 300 parameters—from safety and handling to real-world energy consumption and boot capacity.

Final scores ranged from 1.6 for the top performers to 3.0 for the least successful model. Notably, no car received a rating below "satisfactory." 101 models were deemed "good," while another 11 were rated "satisfactory."

Five models achieved the best score of 1.6, all of them electric: the Mercedes EQS, Skoda Enyaq, Skoda Elroq, Audi A6 Avant e-tron, and Audi Q6 e-tron. The Q6 e-tron, in particular, demonstrated a range of up to 580 km and efficient performance with fast charging.

Among Chinese models, the electric Nio EL8 earned a high score of 1.8. The MGS5 EV and XPeng G6 both scored 2.0, while the Tesla Model Y remained among the strongest contenders with a 1.9. In the mid-range segment, the XPeng P7 scored 2.2, and the hybrid Lynk & Co 08, with an electric range of 176 km, also featured.

At the lower end of the list were the BYD Atto 2 (2.4), BYD Dolphin Surf (2.6), Leapmotor T03 (2.9), and Dacia Spring (3.0). The Dacia Spring, despite modest acceleration and a 185 km range, received high marks for environmental impact due to its low energy consumption.

ADAC applies uniform criteria to all participants, regardless of drivetrain type or price. The final ranking of the best cars is based solely on technical performance, without factoring in cost.
