Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the updated GLC 53 4Matic+, highlighting its revamped 3.0-liter inline-six engine. This powerplant now features a hybrid two-stage turbocharging system, pairing a conventional turbocharger with an electric supercharger. The result is 443 horsepower and 640 Nm of torque, with an overboost function that extends peak torque delivery.

Power is sent through a nine-speed AMG Speedshift TCT transmission, while the fully variable 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system includes an electronically controlled rear differential lock. This setup marks the first time an AMG crossover can engage a Drift Mode. The second-generation 48-volt mild-hybrid ISG system contributes an additional 17 kW and 205 Nm.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.2 seconds with Race Start activated, which is part of the AMG Dynamic Plus package. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, though an optional upgrade raises it to 270 km/h.
