Lada cars now support Apple CarPlay with AI integration coming
Apple updates CarPlay to include Lada models like Granta and Vesta, and plans AI support for ChatGPT and other chatbots, improving in-car connectivity.
Apple has updated its list of vehicles compatible with its CarPlay platform, now including models from the Russian brand Lada for the first time. This information appears in the official CarPlay section on Apple's website, marking a significant technological step for mainstream Russian cars.
Which models gained support
The updated list includes the Granta, Vesta, the long-discontinued XRAY, and even the Largus—vehicles from the latest generations produced since 2021. In practice, this means owners of these cars get standard iPhone integration into the multimedia system, with access to navigation, messaging apps, audio services, and voice control. For a brand traditionally focused on the affordable segment, joining Apple's ecosystem is a notable sign of technological adaptation.

Where CarPlay is heading: AI integration
Separately, it has become known that Apple plans to expand CarPlay's functionality by adding support for third-party AI services. This involves chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, which could operate in the car through voice interfaces. Apple emphasizes that such services will not have access to the vehicle's or phone's system functions, and AI connectivity will be a separate app launched manually by the user.
The current version of CarPlay already supports third-party apps, but functional freedom is limited by app category. After the update, interaction with voice assistants will become more natural and convenient, especially during long trips.
What CarPlay is and why it matters
CarPlay is Apple's software interface that brings key iPhone features to a car's multimedia screen. Drivers gain access to familiar services without needing to handle their smartphones, improving safety and convenience. Lada's inclusion in the official list not only boosts the appeal of these models for buyers but also confirms that Russian cars are gradually gaining support for global technologies.
