Maserati MCXtrema auction canceled after high bids
A rare Maserati MCXtrema auction on Bring a Trailer was canceled at $751,000 due to resale restrictions, with only 62 units produced and 140 track miles.
An online auction for a rare Maserati MCXtrema was abruptly canceled after bids reached $751,000. The sale was hosted on the Bring a Trailer platform, but the seller announced they could not proceed following discussions with Maserati of North America.
The MCXtrema is a track-focused version of the Maserati MC20. Only 62 units were produced. This model features a 3.0-liter V6 Nettuno engine producing 730 horsepower, along with extensive aerodynamic bodywork and a full safety cage.
The auction lot was the first MCXtrema delivered to a customer, presented during Monterey Car Week in 2024. According to the listing, the car had covered 140 miles (approximately 225 kilometers). All those miles were accumulated on tracks at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and Autobahn Country Club, as well as during transportation to events.
The former owner, Gabriele Vignaroli, stated that he personally removed the listing, acknowledging contractual restrictions on transferring ownership under the MCXtrema program. Maserati also noted that owners agree to resale obligations during the initial ownership period, and the sale was halted due to non-compliance with these terms.
