Public testing of Tesla Cybercab prototypes continues on US public roads. A video has surfaced online showing the vehicle's charging solution: the charging port is located at the rear of the body and features a manual door and latch. In the footage, an employee connects the Cybercab to a Tesla Supercharger station.

The Cybercab is designed as a fully autonomous model without a steering wheel or pedals, intended to operate on the Full Self-Driving system. However, current prototypes still use wired charging. The company has previously announced plans to implement wireless inductive charging, but this technology is not yet available.

The article points out that wired charging may be more practical during vehicle downtime at base—for instance, during cleaning and maintenance. Meanwhile, inductive charging is considered a convenient solution during ride-hailing service operation, though the technology still faces issues with energy loss and heat generation.

Tesla plans to begin production of the Cybercab in April. The key question remains whether an effective wireless system will be ready by that deadline.
