Volkswagen Group Australia is recalling three units of the 2023 Cupra Born electric vehicle due to a potential defect in the high-voltage battery.

According to a recall notice sent to the Department of Infrastructure, a manufacturing flaw may cause cell modules in the battery to be faulty and overheat.

If overheating occurs, it could lead to a vehicle fire. This issue might also affect the car's driving range, and a warning light on the dashboard could illuminate in such cases.

Volkswagen Group Australia states that it will contact affected owners in writing and ask them to schedule a service appointment. Until repairs are completed, owners are advised to limit charging capacity to 80%, avoid using external charging sources, and park the vehicle outdoors at a safe distance from property or other vehicles.
