Huawei patents for luxury sedans and sporty coupes indicate expansion in the automotive sector. Explore new designs and what they mean for future vehicles.

Huawei continues to actively expand its presence in the automotive sector. On January 23, China's National Intellectual Property Administration published new patents for automotive "exterior designs" registered by Huawei Technologies and Huawei Terminal.

The images suggest the company is exploring multiple directions at once, ranging from dynamic coupe-like sedans to large luxury models. One patent, filed by Huawei Technologies back in January 2022, shows a liftback with a smooth roofline and a pronounced forward-sloping body.

Stylistically, the car is close to the One Box philosophy familiar from the Zhijie S7, but the proportions appear more aggressive and sporty. The front end is executed in the spirit of current Aito and Zhijie models, indicating the formation of a unified design DNA.

Another patent, filed by Huawei Terminal in February 2023, relates to a large luxury sedan. The vehicle features a long hood, a closed-off front end, and full-width light elements at both the front and rear. The equipment visible includes a laser lidar and electronic side mirrors, with the overall image clearly aimed at the premium segment. In character, the model resembles the current Zunjie S800, but with a more emphasized classic elegance.

Furthermore, the patent database reveals another variant of a luxury car, also filed in February 2023. It differs with an alternative front-end treatment—featuring a more pronounced concave grille that adds a sense of dynamism to its appearance. At the same time, the car retains a long wheelbase, smooth body lines, and large wheels that underscore its flagship status.

While patent images do not confirm series production, their number and variety clearly point to Huawei's systematic work on the design of future vehicles. The company is evidently not limiting itself to a single niche and is preparing visual solutions for both sporty and luxury models.

Huawei is increasingly confidently shaping its own automotive style. If these patents make it to the production line, the brand could cover several segments at once, from driver-focused sedans to true luxury.
