Kia K4 Sportswagon: new estate car with lower price and more space

Kia reveals the K4 Sportswagon, a longer, more spacious estate car priced from €29,890 in Europe. It features modern tech and starts cheaper than the liftback version.
Kia has officially unveiled pricing and details for the new K4 Sportswagon, an estate car that replaces the Ceed Sportswagon and surprises with its positioning. The model is longer, more spacious, and more practical than the K4 liftback, yet it starts at a lower price thanks to the new Core trim.
What to know before buying
The K4 Sportswagon debuts on the European market in May, priced from €29,890. The estate is 30 cm longer than the five-door K4, reaching 4.70 metres, and offers a boot capacity of 604 litres. Kia's strategy is straightforward: make the estate more affordable through an exclusive budget Core version, which is not available for the liftback. As a result, the Sportswagon ends up €100 cheaper than the shorter version with the Vision trim.
The model combines a modern cabin architecture, digital services, and the traditional European perception of estates as more practical family cars. For buyers, this is a rare case where increasing dimensions does not lead to higher costs.
Equipment and interiors
The cabin features another panoramic digital setup: two 12.3-inch displays and a separate 5.3-inch touchscreen for climate control. It supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, over-the-air software updates, and a digital key for smartphones and watches.

Additional options include ventilated seats, surround-view cameras, adaptive cruise control, a highway driving assist, cross-traffic warning, and enhanced collision avoidance systems. This means even the base estate remains tech-focused and aligned with modern safety standards.
Engines and transmissions
Kia offers four petrol variants:
- A 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine with 115 hp, paired with a manual transmission or a mild-hybrid system with a 7-speed 'robot' gearbox.
- A 1.6-litre engine in 150 hp and 180 hp versions, both with a 7-speed DCT.
This range makes the Sportswagon a versatile offering, from economical urban configurations to more dynamic options for highways.
