Explore the Volvo EX60 electric SUV: up to 680 hp, 810 km range, 400 kW charging, and premium pricing. Learn about its specs, features, and market positioning.

Volvo is on the cusp of one of its most significant launches in recent years. The electric EX60 isn't just meant to expand the lineup; it's positioned to become the full electric-era counterpart to the XC60, taking on the role of a mass-market yet prestigious flagship.

Performance and Dynamics

The EX60 will arrive with a broad range of versions, from a relatively mild rear-wheel-drive setup to an outright powerful all-wheel-drive variant. The base model develops around 374 horsepower and offers up to 620 km of range. The mid-tier version raises the bar to 510 horsepower and 660 km, while the top variant reaches 680 horsepower and a claimed 810 km of autonomy.

All versions are limited to a top speed of 180 km/h, in line with Volvo's safety policy.

Charging and Platform

A key selling point for the EX60 will be its support for charging at up to 400 kW. According to the brand, this is enough to replenish over 300 km of range in just ten minutes. The car is built on the new SPA3 platform, where the battery is integrated into the body's load-bearing structure.

The use of aluminum megacasting and an updated thermal management system should improve rigidity, reduce weight, and stabilize real-world range performance.

Interior, Software, and Risks

Inside, Volvo has partially revised its approach, bringing back a separate driver display and simplifying the visual interface. The EX60 will be the first model from the brand to integrate Google Gemini, which will expand voice control and reduce reliance on touchscreens.

Pricing and Positioning

According to Swedish sources, the Volvo EX60 will be offered in a price range from 790,000 to 890,000 Swedish kronor, equivalent to roughly €67,000–€76,000. This price level underscores the model's premium positioning and puts it in direct competition with German electric SUVs.

In practice, this means Volvo has had to strengthen its oversight of the production launch to avoid repeating the delays and issues that plagued the EX90's rollout.
