Ford confirms production of new Kuga and compact Bronco SUV in Spain for 2027, featuring hybrid options and shared platform. Learn about the updates.

Ford is preparing to update its lineup for the European market and has confirmed the production of two new models at its Almussafes plant in Valencia, Spain. These are the fourth-generation Kuga and a compact SUV from the Bronco family. Both vehicles are slated for launch in 2027 and will share a common platform and powertrains, differing primarily in design.

The new Kuga will feature a more sporty exterior, while its counterpart will be styled after the rugged Bronco, offering a more adventurous and off-road-inspired look, though it will remain a crossover in construction. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions have been announced for both models.

At the Detroit auto show, Ford CEO Jim Farley noted that the Bronco lineup will expand globally, with the brand having big plans for this model. He also stated that buyers can expect various powertrain options.

According to Autocar, the new compact Bronco could fill the niche between the Puma and Kuga and partially replace the Focus. All-wheel-drive versions for more confident off-road capability are not ruled out. Ultimately, alongside the electric Explorer and Capri, Ford aims to cover the crucial C-SUV segment for Europe.
