Photos of a Tesla Cybercab prototype in Chicago suggest it includes a rear camera washer, a feature demanded by Tesla owners for better visibility in wet or snowy conditions, enhancing autonomous reliability.

A prototype of the Tesla Cybercab, an autonomous two-seater vehicle being developed for driverless taxi service, has been spotted in Chicago. Photos shared on social media show the car looking quite dirty, but the area around the rear camera appears significantly cleaner than the rest of the body. Water marks are also visible on the trunk lid.

This detail matters because it could indicate the Cybercab features a rear camera washer. Such an element has long been in demand among Tesla owners, especially in regions with wet or snowy weather where cameras quickly get dirty, impairing visibility and the performance of driver-assistance systems.

If confirmed, Tesla might equip other external cameras on the Cybercab with similar systems to enhance reliability during fully autonomous operation.

The Cybercab was unveiled in October 2024 at the We, Robot event in Los Angeles. Designed as a specialized vehicle for autonomous rides without a steering wheel or pedals, it is intended to carry one or two passengers.
