Volvo EX60 electric SUV: full reveal and key features

The new Volvo EX60 has been fully revealed ahead of its official debut scheduled for January 21. The leak, courtesy of Norwegian media, immediately made one thing clear: this is set to be one of the brand's key models in the coming years. The electric EX60 will be the direct successor to the XC60 and is aimed squarely at rivals like the BMW iX3, Audi Q6 e-tron, and Mercedes-Benz GLC EQ.

In terms of design, the EX60 follows the now-familiar styling language of the EX30 and EX90. Signature 'Thor's Hammer' headlights, a closed-off front end without a grille, and a prominent Volvo badge all highlight the model's electric nature. At the same time, the EX60 appears more dynamic thanks to a low front end, pronounced rear haunches, and a rising window line. A Cross Country version with off-road styling is also expected, though the car's philosophy will remain primarily road-focused.

Technically, the EX60 will be the first Volvo built on the new SPA3 platform—a software-oriented architecture that uses megacastings to reduce weight and cost. In its all-wheel-drive configuration, the car is expected to achieve up to 810 km on the WLTP cycle, a figure that surpasses the BMW iX3. An 800-volt electrical system will enable charging at up to 400 kW, making charging stops as brief as possible.

Volvo also calls the EX60 the safest car in its history. New features include a next-generation adaptive seatbelt and integration of the Google Gemini AI assistant, which will allow drivers to control car functions via voice and engage in dialogue with the system. The EX60's price is anticipated to be comparable to the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid, starting at around €66,000 (5.9 million rubles), which should make it competitive in the premium segment.
