Acura RDX US sales to end, new hybrid generation in development
Acura confirms the RDX crossover will end US sales in 2026, discontinuing the current generation due to supplier constraints. A new hybrid model is in development.
Acura has officially confirmed it will end sales of the RDX crossover in the United States. The third-generation model, launched in 2018 and updated in 2022, will be discontinued later this year. This means the 2026 model year will be the last for the current RDX in the American market.
The company clarified that this specifically marks the end of production for the current generation in the U.S. The decision stems from supplier constraints that made continued manufacturing unfeasible. According to Acura, this move was planned in advance.
This isn't a complete farewell to the model. Development is already underway on a new, fourth-generation RDX, though its debut is still several years away. The future version will be a hybrid—a first for Acura—and will feature a notably different design. Expect a more streamlined body, flush door handles, a longer roofline, and updated proportions.
For now, American buyers can still get the 2026 model year RDX. The crossover comes with a single powertrain: a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 272 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Average fuel consumption is around 10.2 liters per 100 kilometers.
Once U.S. sales conclude, there will be a temporary gap in Acura's lineup, which the brand intends to fill with the new generation model.
