2027 Cadillac Lyriq: The Last GM EV in North America With CarPlay and Android Auto

2027 Cadillac Lyriq Keeps CarPlay and Android Auto That GM Is Dropping A. Krivonosov

GM is phasing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto out of its EVs, but the 2027 Cadillac Lyriq keeps them — wired and wireless. It also gains a native NACS port for Tesla Superchargers.

The 2027 Cadillac Lyriq has a rare advantage within GM's electric lineup. While the company is gradually removing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from its EVs, the Lyriq will keep both features — in wired and wireless form.

Production of the updated Lyriq starts next month in Tennessee. It will be the last General Motors EV for North America to still support the smartphone mirroring drivers are used to. For many buyers that's not a small detail: CarPlay and Android Auto have long been a routine part of navigation, music and calls.

GM began moving away from the technology after 2023. The automaker is betting on its own infotainment system with native apps, explaining the decision through safety and a desire to cut out the constant switching between the car's interface and the smartphone screen.

The brand's new EVs are already launching without CarPlay and Android Auto, while previously released models are losing them through updates. That happened, for instance, with the 2026 GMC Hummer EV and the base Chevrolet Silverado EV. The Lyriq has escaped that fate for now — but for how long is anyone's guess.

GM chief Mary Barra previously said customers complained about the “clunky” transition between the native system and CarPlay. At the same time, outside the US GM still offers CarPlay on some of its EVs, so the strategy isn't quite the same across markets.

The second important change is the native NACS charging port, compatible with the Tesla Supercharger network. That spares owners from carrying an adapter at compatible stations with this connector. For a premium EV it's a noticeable plus: fewer accessories, easier long trips.

Prices are rising only symbolically. The base 2027 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury RWD starts at $61,195 with destination, $200 above the previous level. The Signature RWD is priced at $70,295, with all-wheel drive adding $3,500. The top-spec all-wheel-drive Lyriq-V starts at $80,495, up $100 from last year's price.

The Lyriq 2027 turns out to be an odd but welcome exception. It gets a modern charging port yet keeps an old, convenient feature that GM has almost abandoned. Sometimes the best update isn't a new option — it's the familiar one the car hasn't lost yet.
