Chery 6=1: a shape-shifting seven-seat SUV, pickup and camper
Chery unveils the 6=1, a modular seven-seat crossover that converts into a pickup or camper. Quick-release rear and production planned for Q3 2026 in Europe.
Chery has unveiled a unique seven-seat crossover called 6=1, capable of morphing into different body styles—from a family SUV to a pickup and even a camper. The concept aims at those who would rather have one vehicle that covers school runs, job sites, and weekend getaways.
Built around a modular body with a quick-release rear section, the model offers up to six cabin and exterior configurations. In standard SUV mode, its length reaches 4.9 meters, while the cabin height stands at 1.28 meters—enough for easy entry and for a child to stand upright.
Detach the rear section, and the Chery 6=1 becomes a double-cab pickup with a 600-liter open bed equipped with tie-downs and cargo dividers. It’s a setup that looks ready for hauling gear without sacrificing passenger space.
For traveling, the Camper Mode brings sleeping berths in the cabin, a pull-out awning, an external power hookup, and camping-friendly multimedia—features that hint at thoughtful planning for life on the move.
Production is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, and Chery is not yet disclosing technical details. Meanwhile, the Chinese automaker is actively expanding in Europe through the Omoda and Jaecoo brands and is preparing the premium Exlantix lineup.
The 6=1 could mark a new chapter for the brand, blending versatility, crossover comfort, and the functionality of a light commercial vehicle. The idea feels like a practical answer to the long-standing quest for one car that genuinely does it all.
