SAIC Volkswagen has wrapped up the first quarter of 2026 with sales reaching 216,000 vehicles. In March alone, the company sold 70,000 cars, marking a 23.1% increase from February. This growth stems from recovering demand and an expanding model lineup.

The core contributors remain the traditional bestsellers. The Lavida family approached 60,000 units sold for the quarter, the Passat neared 51,000, and the Tiguan surpassed 48,000 units. Notably, the Passat has now hit a historic milestone of 4 million cumulative sales.

Meanwhile, the premium segment is also gaining momentum. SAIC Audi sold over 10,000 vehicles, achieving a 28% year-on-year increase. The electric Audi E5 Sportback set a record, with 2,630 units sold in a single month.

A key upcoming model is the ID. ERA 9X, set to launch on April 25. This vehicle will feature an extended range of over 400 km on the CLTC cycle and a hybrid system with a range extender. Its preliminary pricing starts between 32,980 and 37,980 yuan.

In the second quarter, the company plans to accelerate the rollout of new models. The Beijing Auto Show will see the debut of the Audi E7X, along with hybrid versions of the Tiguan L and Passat. Overall, SAIC Volkswagen aims to introduce seven new electrified models throughout 2026.

SAIC Volkswagen maintains its footing by balancing classic models with electrification efforts. The new ID. ERA 9X is poised to become a crucial part of this strategy, especially as competition intensifies in the Chinese market.
