New-generation Suzuki Swift: Z12E engine, CVT, and Safety Support
Explore the new Suzuki Swift: Z12E engine with CVT, improved aerodynamics, stiffer body, quieter cabin, and expanded Safety Support. Japan launch in January.
Suzuki is rolling out a new generation of the Swift, keeping the "Energetic & Light" idea at its core while layering in up-to-date tech. The design has been refreshed with softer contours and a clear emphasis on motion, shaping a look that sticks in the memory. Inside, the cabin follows a unified cockpit theme: the dashboard flows into the door panels, giving the driver’s seat a more focused feel. The color palette spans nine finishes, including the new Frontier Blue and Cool Yellow.
The editorial team at 32CARS.RU points to the Z12E engine, paired with a new CVT, as the headline technical change. The Swift is now thriftier and more eager to respond to the throttle. Aerodynamic tweaks—front bumper, spoilers, and wheel design—trim drag by 4.6%, a meaningful gain for fuel use. Body rigidity is up thanks to a higher share of high-strength steel, while added insulation and extra seals take the edge off cabin noise. On paper, these are the kinds of updates that pay off every day, especially in city traffic.
The Swift also expands its Suzuki Safety Support suite: Dual Sensor Brake Support II, adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist, lane keeping, automatic lighting, and, for the first time, a Driver Monitoring System that watches for signs of fatigue. The compact footprint, easy-to-read ergonomics, and natural seating position remain central to its appeal—familiar strengths that should make the new tech feel like a seamless upgrade rather than a reset.
The updated Swift goes on sale in Japan in January, with other markets to follow.
