Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR: motorsport-honed special edition
Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026: a limited-run, Nurburgring-honed special with MORIZO AWD, carbon spoiler and 100+100 units.
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) today announced a special GR Yaris edition called MORIZO RR and unveiled the in-development prototype at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026.
The GR Yaris MORIZO RR grows out of experience gathered by Toyota Motor Corporation chairman Akio Toyoda—better known as Morizo—who competed in the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours as part of TOYOTA GAZOO ROOKIE Racing (TGRR).
Pursuing cars honed by motorsport, TGR joined forces with ROOKIE Racing, the outfit that refines GR-series models, forming TGRR under Morizo’s direction and stepping beyond internal boundaries.
At the Nürburgring, Morizo drove the No. 109 GR Yaris equipped with the GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission, completing more laps than planned despite harsh conditions. After the race, he highlighted the car’s qualities and noted the role of the eight-speed automatic, which enabled a run of 15 laps.
The new GR Yaris MORIZO RR zeroes in on a seamless bond between driver and machine, shaped by lessons from the Nordschleife to deliver a high level of human–vehicle integration, with reliability and safety that make you want to keep going. The impression is unmistakable: this is about connection as much as outright speed.
For Japan, the GR Yaris MORIZO RR will be offered in a limited run of 100 units in spring 2026 via the TGR mobile "GR app." A further series of 100 cars is planned for select European countries.
Key features
The suspension is tuned for confident damping even over rough sections reminiscent of the Nürburgring, helped by the strong downforce from a unique rear wing. Everyday comfort meets precise, sporting response, further sharpened by revisions to the electric power steering (EPS). The package is conceived as a high-performance model that elevates the driver–car dialogue and makes performance feel effortless—and fun.
A special all-wheel-drive setting developed with Morizo replaces the base "GRAVEL" mode with a new "MORIZO" mode. In this setting, the initial torque split is set at 50:50 between the front and rear wheels.
An exclusive aerodynamic element—a carbon rear spoiler—was created specifically for the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Exterior changes also include a front splitter, side skirts, and a carbon-fiber hood.
The exclusive body color is "Gravel Khaki," Morizo’s preferred shade that blends neatly into daily life. The grille wears a glossy black "Piano Black" finish that visually lowers the car, while the wheels are finished in "Matte Bronze." Brake calipers and interior stitching appear in Morizo’s signature yellow, a detail that suits the car’s intent.
Inside, the steering wheel is trimmed in suede, with a smaller outer rim and revised paddle shifters and steering buttons for racing use. The buttons are positioned independently, drawing on the layout tried in the GR Yaris Rally2 rally car.
The cabin also features a serial-number plate bearing the "MORIZO RR" logo.
