Chevrolet Captiva PHEV 2026 launches in Argentina: the brand's first plug-in hybrid with 90 km EV range

Chevrolet Captiva PHEV 2026 launches in Argentina: Premier trim, 204 hp, 20.5 kWh LFP, up to 90 km electric range and 1,000+ km total. Price: ARS 52,740,900.

Chevrolet has launched its first plug-in hybrid for the region — the Captiva PHEV 2026 — on the Argentine market. The newcomer marks an important step in GM’s electrification strategy in South America, becoming the brand’s first PHEV available in Argentina. Pre-orders opened back in October, and the model is now officially reaching the country’s dealerships.

The Captiva PHEV arrives in the range-topping Premier trim, fitted with a modern suite of driver-assistance tech, an expanded safety package, and an upgraded dark-themed cabin. The hybrid setup pairs a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated Atkinson-cycle engine with an electric motor for a combined 204 hp and 228 Nm. An LFP battery rated at 20.5 kWh provides up to 90 km of electric-only driving and a total range that exceeds 1,000 km. On paper, those figures look well suited to daily use, and the long combined range helps take the stress out of longer trips.

Deliveries to Argentina come from China, where the model is built by the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture. Buyers can choose from four exterior colors and two interior themes — Jet Black or beige Sandy Soul. The Captiva PHEV Premier is priced at 52,740,900 Argentine pesos, which translates to roughly $35,750.

The model opens a new path for Chevrolet in a region where demand for electrified vehicles is growing and the infrastructure is preparing to scale. Rolling out a plug-in hybrid first looks like a pragmatic bridge as charging networks catch up.
