All-electric Mercedes-Benz GLC debuts at CES with 800-volt platform and MBUX Hyperscreen
Mercedes-Benz GLC EV debuts at CES with 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, MB.OS with AI, 800-volt tech, 483 hp and up to 443 miles WLTP. U.S. arrival planned.
Mercedes-Benz has some welcome news for brand loyalists: the fully electric GLC is coming to the U.S., with the public debut of the production crossover set for CES in Las Vegas on January 6–9. It’s a pivotal launch for the marque, as the GLC remains a major sales driver, and in electric form it is expected to keep its strong standing among premium crossovers.
Early details point squarely to in-cabin technology. An optional 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen will be offered—the largest continuous display Mercedes has fitted to its cars. The infotainment system runs on the new MB.OS software platform with AI integrations from Microsoft and Google. The sheer scale of the screen underscores how much emphasis has shifted to the user experience.
Features aimed at digital life on the move include Dolby Atmos spatial audio paired with Apple CarPlay, plus built-in audiobook streaming with Atmos support. A certified vegan interior and an intelligent air suspension are also mentioned.
The hardware looks serious as well. The electric GLC is built on an 800-volt platform, which typically brings higher charging speeds and stability under load. In GLC 400 form, output is rated at 483 hp, and the target driving range is cited at 443 miles on the WLTP cycle; on the U.S. EPA cycle, the figure will likely be lower. Pricing hasn’t been announced, and market logic suggests the electric version will land noticeably above the gasoline GLC. On paper, the package sits right where premium EV buyers expect it.
In parallel, Mercedes plans to expand in-car entertainment: for the electric CLA, the brand will demonstrate in-cabin video streaming and IMAX content at CES, features that may migrate to other models over time.
