The 2027 model year GMC Sierra 1500 is set to adopt a new steering wheel with a flat-bottom design, a clear break from the traditional round setup used on the current truck.

The wheel itself brings several thoughtful updates. Its rim is thicker for a more secure, comfortable hold, while the completely flat lower section adds a discreetly sporty character to the cabin. The surface features refined perforation that elevates both touch and appearance, giving the interior a cleaner, more modern feel.

Flanking the wheel are special metal paddles. They’re designed for quick changes to the transmission’s operating mode, as well as for adjusting audio volume and selecting tracks via the multimedia system. The layout hints at an emphasis on immediate, tactile control without overcomplicating the interface.

Up top, a dedicated sensor supports the advanced semi-autonomous driving system known as Super Cruise. On designated highways and routes, the technology allows the driver to briefly take hands off the wheel.
