Discover the Dongfeng Xinghai T5: pre-sales start in China from 153,900 yuan. Compact EV crossover with 530 km CLTC range, 64.4-kWh LFP, fast charge 35 min
Dongfeng has officially opened pre-sales for the new compact electric crossover, the Xinghai T5. Launching under the Xinghai brand, it’s aimed squarely at the mass market, where price, driving range, and day-to-day practicality carry the most weight. Two trims are on offer—Yuexiang and Zunxiang—priced at 153,900 and 161,900 yuan, respectively. The pitch is straightforward: keep costs in check while delivering the essentials people actually use.
In terms of size, the Xinghai T5 sits firmly in the compact SUV class: 4,600 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, 1,680 mm tall, with a 2,730 mm wheelbase. The styling opts for a clean, universal look with subtle nods to the S7, and the body can be finished in six colors, spanning gray, black, white, and brighter tones. The understated approach should resonate with a wide audience and age gracefully.
The equipment list is tuned for everyday comfort and safety. Even the base version includes active braking, forward collision warning, and keyless entry. The higher trim adds seat heating and ventilation. Practicality is a clear priority: with the rear seats folded, cargo capacity reaches 1,214 liters—useful space for trips, chores, and everything in between.
Technically, the Xinghai T5 sticks to the segment’s familiar formula: a single front-mounted electric motor delivering 120 kW and 240 Nm. Power comes from a 64.4-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The claimed range is up to 530 km under the CLTC cycle, and fast charging from 30 to 80 percent takes about 35 minutes. The figures won’t chase performance headlines, but they align well with the class, emphasizing balance over bravado.
