CUPRA Tindaya preview: flagship EREV family SUV with 500 hp and 1,000 km range
Discover the CUPRA Tindaya, a flagship EREV SUV on VW's SSP: dual motors ~500 hp, 300 km electric-only and up to 1,000 km total range, family-ready tech.
CUPRA has shared new details about its forthcoming flagship, the Tindaya crossover. Set to be the brand’s largest and most upmarket SUV, it will slot above the Terramar, with the production version expected before 2030.
The CUPRA Tindaya sits in the D-segment and measures 4.72 meters in length, placing it directly against the Audi Q5. It’s configured for five passengers with a clear focus on families. Inside, a 24-inch digital display is planned, joined by an additional third touchscreen—a first for the brand—which hints at a more immersive interface. The spec also includes 23-inch wheels, underscoring its flagship positioning.
The model is built on Volkswagen Group’s SSP platform. Although this architecture was conceived for electric vehicles, the Tindaya will be among the first SUVs to use an EREV powertrain. The setup combines two electric motors with a total output of around 500 hp and a 1.5 TSI gasoline engine that serves as a generator, a configuration that should help deliver consistent performance without constant charging stops.
Electric-only range is projected at up to 300 kilometers, with total driving autonomy reaching 1,000 kilometers. This approach positions the Tindaya as a bridge between battery-electric and hybrid formats, tailored for long trips. CUPRA expects the newcomer to compete among the best family cars by blending pace, generous space, and long-legged range—an equation that, on paper, looks well judged for everyday use and holiday miles alike.
