Ram Trucks Australia has issued a recall for the Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500, citing two separate safety defects that warrant attention.

The first issue involves the Ram 1500 DS. Due to a manufacturing fault, the left and right side curtain airbag inflators may rupture. In that scenario, compressed gas and metal fragments could pass through the airbag toward occupants, creating a risk of severe injury. When safety equipment becomes a potential hazard, it stops being a theoretical problem and turns into something that demands swift action.

The second defect concerns the Ram 1500 (DT), as well as the 2500 (DJ) and 3500 (D2). A software fault in the instrument cluster may prevent visual warnings from illuminating for the brake system, the gear selection indicator and other critical alerts. Losing those prompts on the move strips drivers of vital cues, which increases the likelihood of a crash.

In total, 1,258 vehicles built from 2019 to 2025 are affected. Owners are advised to have their vehicles inspected by a dealer and the issue corrected under the recall campaign. Given the nature of both faults, there’s little sense in putting that visit off.
