Chevrolet Trax has made the 10Best Trucks and SUVs 2026 list from Car and Driver. The magazine called the compact crossover one of General Motors’ strongest efforts in the budget-friendly segment. It’s the Trax’s third such honor, with editors noting that its strengths become especially clear over extended use.

In a long-term test covering roughly 40,000 miles (64,400 km), Car and Driver found the Trax stood out among rivals at its price point. The cabin drew special attention: digital displays, smart packaging, and overall design create the impression of a pricier vehicle. Despite hard plastics, the interior is spacious, including a rear bench that can seat three adults, and the cargo area measures 736 liters. Over time, the thoughtful layout does more for daily comfort than trim materials alone.

Under the hood sits a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 137 hp. Testers considered it less than confident for highway passing but sufficient in city driving. Handling, braking, and ride quality received measured yet positive marks, and the modest output feels acceptable when expectations are set appropriately.

The selection process evaluated more than 100 models priced up to $115,000 that go on sale by the end of January 2026. Weighed against the demands of practicality and cost, the Trax emerged as one of the better family choices in its class, coming across as a sensible package that prioritizes space, ease of use, and value without overreaching.
