Ford recall covers F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, Maverick for Park module flaw
Ford recalls 272,645 vehicles over a Park lock risk tied to parking module. Software update via OTA or dealers will fix F-150 Lightning, Mach-E and Maverick.
Ford has announced a large-scale recall in the United States, covering 272,645 vehicles due to a risk that the Park function may not engage, potentially allowing a vehicle to roll unexpectedly and increasing the chance of a crash. According to NHTSA, the issue traces back to the integrated parking module: the unit may fail to lock in Park even when the driver moves the selector to P.
The list of affected models spans several of the brand’s key products: the F-150 Lightning electric pickup from the 2022–2026 model years, the Mustang Mach-E electric crossover (2024–2026), and the Maverick (2025–2026). The nature of the defect makes this especially sensitive—parking is something drivers rely on instinctively, and any mismatch between the selector position and the vehicle’s actual lock state feels like a direct safety concern.
The fix is software-based. Ford will update the parking module software free of charge: some vehicles will receive an over-the-air (OTA) update, while dealers will handle the procedure for the rest. For owners, that’s a practical advantage; unlike a mechanical part swap, it typically comes down to waiting for the notification and following the steps without delay.
