DS is preparing the next generation of its flagship crossover, called DS No. 7, but the current DS 7 remains on sale—and has just undergone a surprising lineup cut. All plug-in hybrids have been dropped, taking with them the advantages they once delivered: a zero-emissions label, impressive combined range and, in the higher outputs, all-wheel drive. Previously, buyers could choose from three PHEV versions: a 225 hp setup, plus stronger 300 and 360 hp options with 4x4. A 12.9 kWh battery enabled up to 65 km of electric-only driving. With those variants gone, the DS 7 leans from tech-forward versatility toward a more traditional configuration.

The range now centers on a single engine: a 1.5 BlueHDi diesel with 130 hp and 300 Nm, driving the front wheels only. The sole transmission is a classic eight-speed torque-converter automatic. Official figures claim 0–100 km/h in 10.9 seconds, 80–120 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 195 km/h. WLTP fuel use is rated at 5.5 L/100 km. There’s an 18 L AdBlue tank and a 55 L fuel tank. The crossover measures 4.59 m in length, features a multi-link rear suspension and offers a 541 L boot. It’s a setup that favors efficiency over outright pace, and the loss of AWD and an electric-only mode inevitably narrows the car’s toolkit for drivers who prized those capabilities.

There are three trim levels: Pallas, Jules Verne and Étoile. Even the base spec promises generous equipment and a wide set of driver assists. Pricing is set at €46,535 for the DS 7 BlueHDi Pallas, €49,031 for the Jules Verne and €50,471 for the Étoile. The naming and packaging clearly hold onto the premium ambition, even as the lineup itself becomes far more focused.
