BMW’s updated roundel drops chrome for a cleaner, modern look

BMW debuts its refreshed roundel on the 2026 iX3: no inner chrome ring, richer blue and white, satin-matte black. The cleaner logo will roll out across models.

BMW has quietly refreshed its signature roundel—no splashy announcements, no stage lights. The new emblem first appeared on the 2026 electric iX3, and you really notice what’s different only when you put the two side by side.

The headline change is the removal of the inner chrome ring that used to separate the black border from the blue-and-white quadrants. The chrome framing around the Bavarian quarters is gone as well, leaving the badge cleaner and visually flatter. The blue and white tones read a touch richer, and the black perimeter trades a high-gloss sheen for a calmer satin-matte finish. The result feels more modern and tidy, yet unmistakably BMW.

One notable detail: BMW hasn’t brought back the light-blue outer ring that once signaled electrified models like the i3 and i8. In the Neue Klasse era, the brand appears to be moving away from a separate EV visual code in favor of a unified, cleaner identity.

Reports say the updated roundel will show up in all the usual spots—on the hood, trunk lid, wheel center caps, and steering wheel—and will roll out gradually with facelifts and new generations. An 82 mm size is mentioned, along with an estimated price of about 70 euros from some European sellers, though compatibility may vary by model.
