Consumer Reports ranks Nissan Rogue reliability by year

See how Nissan Rogue reliability stacks up by model year. Consumer Reports puts 2024 first, 2025 close behind, with 2020 strong, some span average to below.

The Nissan Rogue (X-Trail) has been in strong demand for nearly two decades and is currently Nissan’s best-selling model in the United States. Against that backdrop, Consumer Reports set out to gauge how dependable it really is — and the answer, it turns out, hinges on the model year.

For 2025, the Nissan Rogue earns an above-average reliability score. It isn’t, however, the most dependable Rogue in the lineup. Looking at Consumer Reports’ year-by-year data from 2014 through 2025, the 2024 model sits at the top with the highest rating. For shoppers, that means the newest model year is a sensible pick, even if the peak for reliability lands a year earlier.

Another model that edges out the 2025 in reliability is the 2020 Rogue. It also carries an above-average rating but posts a higher average score than the 2025. The pattern underscores how much model-year specifics can matter when choosing a Rogue.

With 2024 and 2020 out in front, the 2025 Rogue effectively sits in third place among the most reliable Rogues in Consumer Reports’ view since 2014. Meanwhile, the 2016–2019 and 2023 model years, as well as the 2021 Rogue, received average marks for reliability.

By contrast, the 2014, 2015, and 2022 versions earned below-average ratings.
