Smart #6: first four-door sedan with hybrid power and LiDAR

Smart #6 enters a new segment: a hybrid midsize sedan with a 1.5-liter engine (160 hp), LiDAR, light bars and an active rear spoiler, seen in MIIT filings.

Smart, long associated with city microcars, continues its Geely-led transformation. After crossovers and SUVs, the brand is preparing its first conventional four-door. Enter the Smart #6, a sedan that has appeared in China’s registration filings, effectively confirming the marque’s move into a new segment.

Information available to 32CARS.RU indicates that the #6 is positioned as a midsize sedan and will use a hybrid setup built around a 1.5-liter combustion engine, with output of around 160 hp.

On the outside, the car leans into modern EV-inspired cues: full-width light bars front and rear framing the Smart emblem, plus 19- or 20-inch wheels depending on trim. Among the notable touches are a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor—a typical choice for the Chinese market with its focus on advanced driver-assistance—and an active rear spoiler that deploys at speed and tucks away in everyday driving.

The silhouette and lighting signatures echo several well-known Chinese sedans, which makes the model feel instantly familiar. At the same time, industry outlets report that Smart isn’t abandoning the core idea of a compact urban EV: a fully electric #2 is said to be in discussion, with expectations set for 2026.
