BMW iX3 50 xDrive launches in Germany with Neue Klasse platform, 800V charging and up to 805 km range

BMW iX3 debuts on Neue Klasse in Germany: 50 xDrive AWD, 345 kW, 108.7 kWh, 800V charging up to 400 kW (10–80% in 21 min), range up to 805 km, from €68,900.

BMW will bring the iX3 to market this spring as the first model on the Neue Klasse platform. Germany gets a single launch variant, the all-wheel-drive 50 xDrive, with a starting price of €68,900. For the brand, this isn’t just another electric crossover but a showcase for fresh electronics and battery tech, the hardware BMW is banking on to grow its EV share.

From a technical standpoint, the iX3 aims high. Output is rated at 345 kW (469 hp) and 645 Nm, with 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and a top speed capped at 210 km/h. The traction battery offers 108.7 kWh of usable capacity, and official consumption, depending on specification, is listed at 15.1–17.9 kWh per 100 km.

The platform’s headline feature is its 800-volt electrical architecture. On a DC fast charger, BMW quotes up to 400 kW and a 10–80% charge in 21 minutes under ideal conditions. AC charging is up to 11 kW, with a full charge from empty taking around 11 hours. Claimed range spans 679–805 km, a clear play for drivers who rack up long distances.

Another focal point is the new Heart of Joy central computer, which consolidates control of the powertrain, energy management, driver-assistance systems, and infotainment. The interface is complemented by a large central display and a Panoramic Vision projection that stretches across the windshield. Standard equipment is promised to be generous, yet add options such as the M Sportpaket Pro and a panoramic roof, and the final price quickly edges toward €80,000 and beyond.
