Hyundai Palisade and Ioniq 9 Night: A Darker Look, Same Hardware Underneath
Hyundai's new Night trim darkens the Palisade and Ioniq 9 for 2027, but adds no power, range or extra safety tech — Canadian pricing is still unknown.
Hyundai's new Night package for the 2027 Palisade and Ioniq 9 doesn’t add power, range, or new safety features. Buyers are simply paying for a darker look, so the real value will only become clear once Canadian pricing lands. Both versions arrive at dealers in fall 2026 and will be built in South Korea.
For the Palisade, the package is offered exclusively on the range-topping Ultimate Calligraphy trim. It bundles black 21-inch wheels, roof rails, grille, badging and exterior trim. Three body colors are offered: Abyss Black, Ecotronic Grey and Creamy White. Inside, black Nappa leather and dark trim accents feature, while the three-row layout stays unchanged.
Hyundai hasn’t announced any mechanical changes. That matters when comparing it to the standard Ultimate Calligraphy: the package has no effect on the engine, all-wheel drive, towing capacity or driver-assistance suite. The current Palisade Ultimate Calligraphy starts at CAD 62,499 in Canada, with the hybrid version from CAD 65,699. Taxes and mandatory fees aren’t included in those figures.
A useful reference point is the outgoing 2025 Palisade Ultimate Calligraphy Night, which cost CAD 1,500 more than the standard Ultimate Calligraphy. That premium can’t be carried over directly to the new model, though — the Palisade has switched to a new generation, and the 2027 package contents and pricing haven’t been published yet.
The electric Ioniq 9 Night is built on the Ultimate Calligraphy AWD+ trim. It’s offered only in Abyss Black, with the dark treatment covering the wheels, badges, roof rails, door handles, window moldings, front fascia trim and rear accents. The steering wheel, upholstery and interior aluminum trim turn black as well.
The powertrain carries over unchanged. The Canadian Ioniq 9 AWD+ pairs two electric motors for a combined 320 kW (435 hp), a 110.3 kWh battery and all-wheel drive. Claimed range is 500 km, with 0-100 km/h taking 5.2 seconds. The Night package shouldn’t change any of those figures, though final certified numbers for the 2027 model year haven’t been published yet.
The current Ioniq 9 starts at CAD 59,999 in Canada, while the fully loaded Ultimate Calligraphy trim runs CAD 78,199 before taxes and fees. That makes Night a dress-up option for an already pricey trim, not a way to get the black look on an entry-level car.
Two numbers are still worth waiting for: the exact Night premium and the car’s final price with Canada’s mandatory fees included. If the package ends up costing significantly more than the old CAD 1,500 gap, buyers will have to decide on their own whether the black trim is worth the factory markup — Hyundai isn’t promising any technical upside for it yet.
