Kia PV5: City Van or Long-Bed — Ten Versions Complicate the Choice
Kia's PV5 lineup has grown to 10 versions in South Korea, led by a shorter Cargo Compact that saves buyers just over $1,000 versus the standard Cargo Long.
The Kia PV5 now comes in 10 versions, but the most debated newcomer is the Cargo Compact. Built on the same wheelbase, it is 200 mm shorter than the Cargo Long and costs 41 million won — about $28,700. The base Long is priced at 42.5 million won, or $29,800. Better maneuverability in tight city blocks saves just 1.5 million won — roughly $1,050.
Orders opened in South Korea on August 3, 2026. The lineup gained a premium Prime trim, passenger versions with 1-2-2 and 2-2-3 seating layouts, the Cargo Compact, and a chassis cab for third-party bodywork. The seven-seat PV5 starts at 49.02 million won, or $34,400, while the Prime starts at 52.02 million won, about $36,500. Prices are listed before tax incentives and subsidies, which vary by region.
The differences go beyond trim details. On the 1-2-2 version, the front passenger seat is replaced with a cargo area for taxi use, the Prime gets separate second-row seats with ventilation and footrests, and the donor chassis is built for food trucks, lift platforms and other specialty bodies. Across such a range, the vehicle's purpose matters more than its options list.
The 2027 PV5 also gained a system to limit unintended acceleration and an adjustable armrest. Kia updated the EV6 at the same time: a pedal misapplication safeguard and open tailgate warning lights are now standard. New 19-inch tires increased range for the rear-wheel-drive Long Range version from 494 to 502 km, and for the standard version from 382 to 395 km. The EV6 now starts at 43.6 million won, or $30,600.
32CARS.RU previously covered the PV5 in police, mobile-bank and food-truck configurations. Some of that flexibility has now turned into a production price list. The Cargo Compact makes sense where 200 mm gets in the way every day; otherwise, the longer body costs just $1,050 more.
