The electric Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 lapped the Nürburgring in 7 minutes 32.070 seconds. Mercedes calls it a segment record, but the conditions matter: the car wore the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package, Race mode, and Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS semi-slick tires.

The tri-motor setup produces 500 kW, or 680 hp, and 1,759 Nm of torque. One motor sits up front, two at the rear. 0-100 km/h takes 3 seconds, and top speed with the Dynamic Plus package reaches 270 km/h. The 94 kWh battery delivers over 670 km on the WLTP cycle, with 10-80% charging taking 22 minutes at up to 330 kW.

The BMW comparison needs context. A standard M2 laps in 7:38.7, so the CLA is 6.63 seconds quicker. But the BMW M2 CS ran 7:25.534, and the M2 with the factory Track Kit hit 7:25.068 — the electric Mercedes trails those by 6.54 and 7 seconds respectively.

The next test is an independent run on standard road tires: that’s what will show whether the 7:32.070 time holds up outside the record-chasing setup.
