Third-generation Mazda CX-5 brings Google Built-In, OTA updates and smarter ADAS

Explore the third-gen Mazda CX-5: new EEA+ architecture, Google Built-In, larger screens, OTA updates, improved ADAS, and pricing from €34,990 in Germany.

Mazda has officially unveiled the third-generation CX-5, putting technology front and center. The crossover has grown slightly and looks markedly more modern, even though it does away with the familiar array of physical buttons. In Europe, prices in Germany start at €34,990. The model will be offered in four trims with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive, and under the hood sits the well-known 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G gasoline engine paired with an automatic transmission.

The headline change is a new EEA+ electronic architecture that brings enhanced connectivity, over-the-air updates, and more capable driver assistance systems. Built on top of it is a fresh HMI digital platform, laying the groundwork for a cleaner, more cohesive interface.

For the first time, Mazda has integrated Google Built-In: the interface spans a 10.25-inch instrument display, a head-up projection, and a central touchscreen measuring either 12.9 or 15.6 inches. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support remains, while the Google voice assistant is set to upgrade to Gemini at a later date. The move finally aligns the CX-5’s infotainment with class expectations and should simplify everyday use.

Inside, the CX-5 leans further into tech: new touch-sensitive steering-wheel panels, improved voice control, and a Bose premium audio system are available in higher trims. Lined up against the Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Tucson, and Kia Sportage, Mazda’s focus on digital services and day-to-day comfort feels like a smart way to stand apart—provided the button-free approach proves as intuitive on the road as it looks on paper.
