Own fleet, trained drivers, electric only: Green SM debuts in Copenhagen

Vietnamese operator Green SM has entered Europe with a fully electric, company-owned taxi fleet of VinFast VF 6 and VF 8 in Copenhagen.

Green SM has launched its first European electric taxi service in Copenhagen. The fleet consists of VinFast VF 6 and VF 8 crossovers, and the company owns the vehicles and manages their maintenance itself — the key difference from Uber and other platforms, which typically just connect passengers with independent drivers.

Rides are booked and paid for through the Green SM app, where the final fare is shown before the order is confirmed. Drivers go through training on safety, handling electric vehicles, passenger service and the company’s internal procedures. An all-electric fleet gives the operator centralized control over vehicle condition and ride quality.

Electrek called the launch Green SM’s European debut, though Danish media reported the brand’s turquoise taxis appearing on the streets as early as 24 July. The company hasn’t disclosed the exact number of vehicles in operation. Danish news agency Ritzau, citing FDM, reported that 590 units of the two VinFast models had been registered for taxi use. Longer term, the operator is considering hiring up to 3,000 drivers in Denmark.

New customers get five vouchers worth 25% off. The maximum saving per voucher is 100 Danish kroner, roughly $15. The promotion runs through 30 September 2026.

Choosing Copenhagen looks like a test of the business model in a mature European market, one with well-developed public transport, cycling infrastructure and strict requirements for carriers. Before entering Denmark, Green SM operated across Asia and in India. According to the company, by spring 2026 its services were present in eight markets and handling an average of 1.8 million rides a day.

Green SM hasn’t named its next European city yet. First, the operator plans to adapt the service to Danish requirements and gauge passenger response.
