GM recall: faulty jack shafts on 2025 Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, plus Escalade, Sierra, Yukon

GM recalls jack kits on 2025 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban and select Escalade, Sierra, Yukon for incorrect shaft that may fail. Dealers will fix free.

GM has identified an issue in a batch of its full-size models—the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Silverado HD, Tahoe, and Suburban. Some vehicles were supplied with a jack fitted with an incorrect shaft that may not withstand load and could fail while lifting the vehicle, creating a risk of vehicle damage and potential injury during a roadside tire change.

The remedy is straightforward: owners should visit a dealer, where technicians will inspect the jack kit and replace the shaft with the correct part at no cost. GM is not disclosing the exact number of vehicles with the defect. It’s the kind of small hardware that tends to go unnoticed until the moment you need it, which makes a quick dealer visit a sensible move.

The recall extends beyond Chevrolet to include the Cadillac Escalade, GMC Sierra, and GMC Yukon, which may have been fitted with the same component. All new and used vehicles covered by the program must be inspected and repaired before being handed over to customers.
