Skoda Slavia Monte Carlo: two rare colours arrive, but only 200 cars will wear them

Skoda has limited the Slavia Monte Carlo to 200 units in two exclusive shades, Shimla Green and Steel Grey, with prices unchanged from Rs 16.69 to Rs 18.19 lakh.

Two new colours are the only change in the fresh Skoda Slavia Monte Carlo series, limited to just 200 examples. Buyers can now choose Shimla Green and Steel Grey. Prices stay within the existing range of Rs 16.69 lakh to Rs 18.19 lakh, excluding registration, insurance and regional charges.

Skoda has announced no changes to the engine, suspension or equipment tied to the new paint. The limited run should be seen as a cosmetic series rather than a technical update or a more powerful version of the Monte Carlo.

The entry-level Slavia Monte Carlo uses a three-cylinder 1.0 TSI turbo engine making 115bhp and 178Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed torque-converter automatic. The higher trim gets a four-cylinder 1.5 TSI with 150bhp and 250Nm, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG. The powertrain will shape day-to-day driving far more than the rare paint: the 1.0-litre suits a relaxed pace, while the 1.5-litre offers noticeably sharper performance through its dual-clutch gearbox.

Everything else about the car stays the same. The India-spec Slavia sits on the MQB A0 IN platform, with a 521-litre boot and 179mm of ground clearance. Its direct rivals remain the Volkswagen Virtus, Hyundai Verna and Honda City.

A run of 200 cars can make a particular colour rare in the local market, but it offers no guarantee of a higher resale price. Buyers are better off choosing engine and gearbox based on expected mileage, treating the limited colour as an extra visual talking point. There are no confirmed plans to bring this series to Russia — the small Indian production run makes regular parallel imports unlikely.
