New Peugeot e-208: over 500 km of range, and a price tag aimed to stay under €30,000
The next-generation Peugeot e-208 is expected to exceed 500 km of WLTP range on the new STLA One platform, arriving in late 2027 with steer-by-wire and a starting price under €30,000.
A range of around 500 km could push the new Peugeot e-208 beyond its role as a purely city-bound EV. The current version officially covers up to 432 km WLTP, so the expected gain is nearly 70 km. The production car is due in the second half of 2027; Peugeot has not yet published final specs for batteries, motors or trim levels.
According to a Spanish outlet, the e-208 will be one of the first vehicles to ride on the STLA One architecture and will be offered exclusively with an electric powertrain. Stellantis itself confirms the platform's 2027 launch, its support for B, C and D segments, LFP batteries, cell-to-body integration and 800-volt potential. The company expects to cut costs by 20%, though that target applies to the whole platform, not to the price of this particular Peugeot.
Another notable change is steer-by-wire: commands from the wheel reach the front wheels electronically, without a traditional mechanical link. Alongside the system comes the near-rectangular Hypersquare steering wheel, which needs less than half a turn for most manoeuvres. Before buying such a car, it's worth checking how the backup power system works, what warranty covers the actuators, and whether diagnostics are possible outside the official dealer network.
The projected starting price sits below €30,000, a European benchmark that excludes delivery, customs clearance and importer margins in other markets. Peugeot has not yet announced the real price.
The current e-208 won't disappear right away: certain trims will keep being built alongside the new model. Buyers eyeing the old version should watch for discounts, while those waiting for the next generation should hold out for confirmed battery capacity, charging power and warranty terms on the electronic steering.
