Lamborghini considers an off-road Temerario, inspired by Sterrato
Lamborghini weighs an off-road Temerario, successor to the Huracan, inspired by Sterrato. New V8, compact chassis, rally-ready tech; likely late-cycle addition.
Lamborghini is weighing an off-road take on its new Temerario supercar, the successor to the Huracan. The idea gathered momentum after the Huracan Sterrato: its limited run of 1,499 cars reinforced the brand’s image as not just road-focused but also willing to experiment. According to Paolo Raccetti, curator of the Temerario lineup, the company sees potential in pushing this concept further, though any move would be several years away, closer to the end of the model’s life cycle.
The Temerario introduces a high-revving, in-house V8 designed to serve at least two generations. That engine won’t fit the Urus without major reengineering—the SUV still relies on Porsche’s EA825 V8. An off-road twist on the Revuelto or Urus therefore seems unlikely, while the compact Temerario, with its shorter wheelbase and sporty architecture, appears the more natural fit.
The Huracan Sterrato has already shown that a supercar can handle light off-road work. Its Haldex setup, a mechanical locking differential at the rear, and a dedicated torque distribution strategy helped it find grip on low-traction surfaces in Rally mode. Meanwhile, the Urus SE offers an Off-Road package with additional protection, increased ground clearance to 248 mm, and Terra and Sabbia modes.
If Lamborghini goes ahead with a Temerario Sterrato, it would mark another step toward distinctive niche models and broaden the lineup. Chances are such a supercar would strike a chord: the blend of driver engagement and a touch of off-road character is only gaining appeal.
