Lamborghini Urus: LARTE Design's body kit earns official German type approval

LARTE Design's carbon body kit for the Lamborghini Urus received a Teiletypgenehmigung from Germany's KBA after 45 pages of technical review — a stronger paper trail than an in-house tuner certificate.

A single body kit for the Lamborghini Urus needed 45 pages of technical documentation to clear. Germany's KBA regulator checked not just the shape of the parts, but the materials, mounting points, load limits, aerodynamics, and pedestrian-safety impact. The result: LARTE Design's kit received official national type approval from the German authority — a far weightier document than an in-house tuner certificate.

The Teiletypgenehmigung approval was issued on July 1, 2026, covering the LM-LR kit. Testing was carried out by the GTU organization, addressing requirements for exterior protrusions, material failure, and pedestrian protection. The approval is now on record with the KBA, and the regulator retains the right to monitor serial production of the parts.

The kit is designed for the 636-generation Lamborghini Urus from the 2021 model year on, including the S and Performante versions. Most components fit all three variants, but the rear bumper insert is built for the standard Urus only — the S and Performante have differently shaped factory bumpers.

LARTE's carbon-fiber hood weighs 9 kg, matching the weight of the factory carbon part. The rear diffuser bolts onto the stock mounting points and comes in roughly a kilogram lighter than the original. Every component carries a 36-month warranty.

For owners, the approval means a verified installation method and a single document to show at inspection, to an insurer, or to a buyer when the car is later sold in Germany. It doesn't turn the kit into a genuine Lamborghini part, though, and it doesn't guarantee the factory warranty stays intact — that still needs to be worked out separately with the dealer.

The German approval also doesn't carry over automatically everywhere. Before fitting the kit to a Urus registered elsewhere, it's worth checking local rules on modification registration and how an insurer will view it, rather than relying solely on the European certificate.
