Chery and Jaguar Land Rover have revealed the cabin of the first production model from the revived Freelander brand. The images were published on the brand's social media. The Freelander 8 SUV gets a display stretching almost the full width of the dashboard, advanced Huawei electronics, and a dedicated focus on front-passenger comfort. Buyers should not confuse the newcomer with Land Rover models: Freelander is developing as an independent joint-venture brand and uses Chery's Chinese electric architecture.

In front of the driver sits a 46.3-inch panoramic display with 8K resolution, alongside a 15.6-inch central touchscreen. The automaker kept physical controls and rotary dials, so core functions shouldn't be buried entirely in touch menus. The front passenger gets up to 1,200 mm of legroom, separate climate settings, enclosed storage compartments, and a dedicated information display zone.

The electronics run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 automotive-grade chip. In the Chinese lineup, Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5.0 driver-assistance system is set to be standard across all trims. This isn't a self-driving mode: even with automatic lane changes, parking, and highway driving, responsibility stays with the driver, and the system's capabilities may vary by country, mapping, and local regulations.

The Freelander 8 rides on an 800V platform, uses a CATL Freevoy-family battery for its range-extended hybrid setup, and features Huawei's i-ATS all-wheel-drive management system. Full powertrain specs, battery capacity, charging times, and fuel consumption haven't been published yet, so it's too early to judge real-world range or running costs.

Sales are set to begin in China in the second half of 2026. JLR has previously confirmed that Freelander models will be built by the joint venture on Chery platforms, independent of the Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery lineups.

Deliveries and pricing for Russia haven't been announced. If the model arrives through parallel imports, key questions will include the availability of Huawei's services, interface localization, software updates, and diagnostic access to the 800V system. Until an export version appears, buying the Chinese-market car purely for the familiar Freelander name would be a risky move.
