Volkswagen ID. Polo LFP: €30,320, 326 km of range, and a trade-off buyers should weigh
Volkswagen has added a cheaper LFP battery to the Spanish ID. Polo lineup — €30,320, 326 km WLTP range and a 23-minute DC top-up, but 123 km less range than the 52 kWh version.
Volkswagen has expanded the Spanish lineup of the electric ID. Polo with a version powered by a 37 kWh LFP battery. It costs €30,320 and saves buyers €4,380 compared to the 52 kWh model, but they give up 123 km of rated range and a chunk of power.
The new variant uses a front-mounted electric motor rated at 135 hp and covers up to 326 km on the WLTP cycle. The 0–100 km/h sprint takes 9.5 seconds, and top speed is capped at 160 km/h. On DC power the battery accepts up to 88 kW, so a 10–80% charge takes 23 minutes.
For city driving and daily commutes, that range looks sufficient, but on the highway the gap between charging stops will be noticeably shorter than the claimed 326 km. Speed, cabin heating, and outside temperature all play a role. Before buying, it's worth looking beyond the WLTP figure and checking the distance between available fast chargers.
For now, the 37 kWh battery is paired only with the pricier Style trim. That includes matrix headlights, a heated steering wheel and seats, dual-zone climate control, sport seats, and ambient lighting. After government incentives and a finance discount, the Spanish price can drop to €24,215, though the final terms depend on which programs a buyer qualifies for.
The 52 kWh version makes 211 hp and delivers up to 449 km WLTP. The €4,380 premium effectively buys more confident highway driving, stronger acceleration, and less dependence on charging infrastructure.
Volkswagen will later launch the entry-level ID. Polo Match with the same LFP battery but a 116 hp motor. Its price is expected to stay under €25,000 before incentives. That version will be the direct rival to the Renault 5 Five, while the current Style trim remains a way to cut the price without giving up premium equipment.
