Renault Group has passed the milestone of one million fully electric vehicles produced in France since 2010. Around 600,000 of those cars came from the northern Ampere ElectriCity cluster, which brings together plants in Douai, Maubeuge and Ruitz.

One of the key models behind the number is the Renault 5 E-Tech electric. By the end of 2025, its production had passed 100,000 units, with 200,000 set as the next target. The French sites don’t just build Renault cars: the same lines are used for Alpine, Nissan and Mitsubishi models, and Ford electric vehicles are expected to join them in the future.

Since 2021, the group has invested around €13 billion in electric vehicle production in France. Another €13 billion is planned under the futuREady strategy, which covers new electric platforms, software development and faster charging for upcoming models.

Renault Group’s French operations employ around 39,000 people directly, with roughly another 35,000 jobs supported through its supplier network. A production record like this doesn’t automatically mean cheaper electric cars, though — affordability still depends on battery costs, government incentives and demand in specific markets.
